Ed Wilford was born in Harlem, USA. He attended the public schools of the city of New York and received the best education those schools had to offer. Mr. Wilford attended PS 81, PS 125, JHS 164(Edward W. Stitt), and the Bronx HS of Science. Mr. Wilford graduated from the State University of NY at Binghamton with Highest Honors in two departments, Political Science and African-American studies, in 1976. After graduation from college he worked for two years and then attended the St. John’s University School of Law where he graduated in 1981. Upon his graduation from Law School Mr. Wilford was employed as a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Division from 1981 to August 1984 when he started his own practice.
Since 1984 Mr. Wilford has been engaged in the private practice of criminal defense on both the trial and appellate levels. He has been involved in numerous high profile cases in State and Federal court, representing politicians, terrorists and alleged cop-killers. Mr. Wilford is a recipient of the Robert L. Cohen Award for Professional Excellence in the Practice of Criminal Law. He is a member of several bar associations and is on the Board of Directors of the New York Criminal Bar Association. Mr. Wilford is on the first Department 18-b Screening Committee.
