David A. Lewis is a graduate of Kalamazoo College and the N.Y.U. School of Law, where he was a member of the N.Y.U. Law Review. He clerked for the Honorable T. John Lesinski of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Mr. Lewis has worked on behalf of indigent defendants in both state and federal courts for over 30 years, principally on appeal. He was also a staff attorney with the Prisoners’ Rights Project of the Legal Aid Society, where he litigated civil rights class action cases on behalf of prisoners and detainees in New York.
Mr. Lewis has worked in the Appeals Unit of the Federal Defenders since 1988. He speaks at C.L.E. events and is an instructor at the Appellate Writing Workshop for Federal Defenders in Washington, D.C.
