Ben Gold has spent his entire professional career as a public defender. Prior to joining the Federal Defenders, he served as a trial-level public defender and special-litigation/collateral-consequence attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Westchester County (2017-2019) and as a trial-level public defender at the Legal Aid Society's Bronx County Criminal Defense Practice (2008-2017). Ben also worked as an appellate defender at Appellate Advocates (2006-2008), where he handled direct appeals and post-conviction motions for indigent criminal defendants at all levels of the New York State court system. Prior to law school, Ben served as an investigator and mitigation specialist at the New York State Capital Defender Office. Ben is a graduate of Albany Law School and Grinnell College.
