Jennifer Brown is the Attorney-in-Charge of the Southern District of New York trial unit. Ms. Brown graduated from Yale College and Harvard Law School. She clerked for the Honorable Ruth Abrams of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.
Ms. Brown began her career as a public defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia, before moving to the Bronx Defenders. Ms. Brown joined the Federal Defenders in 1999. She served as a trial attorney in SDNY for fourteen years before becoming Attorney-in-Charge in 2013.
Ms. Brown has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School and is the author of "Cross-Examining the Difficult Witness: Tips for Women Defenders Navigating Gender Dynamics in the Courtroom," The Champion (April 2011). Ms. Brown is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She also serves on the SDNY Magistrate Judge Selection Committee.
