Common Issues – Self-Service Notification Tool

I entered my client's register number and got a response saying you couldn't find them – what's going on here?

There are few possible issues here:

  • You entered the register number in an unrecognized format. Our database is extremely picky and can only parse register numbers in the EXACT format (#####-###) the Bureau of Prisons uses.

  • Your client was recently arrested and doesn't appear in our database yet. It can take up to a week for recently arrested clients to appear in our database. If this is the case – please email us at NYS_MDCemail@fd.org.

  • Your client is not at MDC Brooklyn. Please make sure your client is at MDC Brooklyn before trying to book a call with them.

  • If you know for certain that your client is at MDC Brooklyn and you get an email saying we couldn't find them in our database—please email us at NYS_MDCemail@fd.org.  Clients on suicide watch, who have been taken to the hospital, or are in other special circumstances may not be listed in the database.

I received an email saying my client changed floors – do I need to do anything?

Yes – please update any future bookings you have with this client to make sure the call is on the correct floor. If you do not update the floor, there is a chance we may have to shorten or cancel your call when we submit the schedule to MDC.
